Today handicrafts still remain the lifeline and main moving force of Swayambhar Nari
among all other various activities.
IN 1992 Swayambhar got their new registration under the new name Swayambhar Nari (Non Formal Action Research Institute). Noted journalist and philanthropist Mr. Amitava Chowdhury was the first President. The primary work of Swayambhar Nari was to help women to be economically and mentally self-reliant. And today there are huge number of men and women who have been benefited and made into small entrepreneurs through the various activities and training programs of Swayambhar Nari.

We have one motivation and supportive education center in Jagachha of Howrah, where the students are from economically backward section of the society. The name of this support center and Montessori Home is Shilalipi
