Handicrafts

Swayambhar Nari understood that handicraft has in it that immense power by means of which one can get the feel of the pulse of the nation and discover living traditions. Different kinds of products are being developed and produced and artisans are hugely benefited. Even today handicraft is the lifeline and main moving force of Swayambhar Nari.

We set up a Production Unit in Kamarpara Village of Birbhum district, West Bengal, with the support of NABARD to support the local women artisans to make a livelihood by helping to produce and display their handicrafts there. They are mainly engaged in traditional Kantha embroidery work of Bengal to produce different products like sarees, bedspread etc. 100 women are directly involved with this production unit. On an average 15 to 20 artisans regularly come and work at this center. In our Kolkata office also, many women from the economically backward sections earn their livelihood by helping to produce hand-crafted sarees and various products. It's Swayambhar Nari's indomitable faith that transforms these vast numbers of unskilled human beings into skillful self-reliant and self-respected individuals.

Swayambhar Nari has a strong network in marketing. We participate in different Exhibitions/Fairs throughout the year. We take part in the Exhibition cum sale programs at Jamshedpur, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Very often Artisans are present in these fairs to demonstrate live their own products to the audience. Besides, the members of Swayambhar Nari from different parts of India, especially from Mumbai, immensely help to promote our products through exhibitions. Cottage Industries of India gives us a great support throughout the year to display and sell our products from their outlet. Bombay Craft circle also helps to promote our products.
